It’s that time of year again! Have a Tax Agent lodge your annual tax return before the deadline on Tuesday the 15th of May 2018 to ensure you aren’t liable for fines issued by the ATO.

Individuals who lodge their tax returns through MyGov have a deadline of the 31st of October. If you have missed this deadline, you should seek to engage a Tax Agent prior to their extended deadline of 15th of May 2018.

This Tax Agent extension is given to those clients (existing or new), who have not been imposed an earlier due date as a result of a poor history in lodging any of their previous tax returns. If you are late lodging this year, expect an early lodgement requirement next year, and you may also be hit with some penalties!

After the 15th of May, the Tax Office may issue late-lodgement fines or accrue interest payable on amounts you owe to them.
